About the don Quijote Foundation

The don Quijote Foundation was founded in 2007 as a private, non-profit institution whose fundamental objective is to internationally promote, foster and expand knowledge of the Spanish language and culture, while contributing to the development, promotion and execution of formative and investigative undertakings with the same aim, and offering financial aid to those people who wish to experience and get to know Spanish and Latin American culture, education and language, both in Spain and abroad.

Its undertakings are directed predominantly towards the diffusion of Spain and Latin America abroad, the comprehension of its rich cultural heritage and the strengthening of the position of Spanish as one of the most important languages in the world by promoting cultural, formative and social activities (exchanges of all kinds, participation in forums, debates, courses, exhibitions, etc.) and collaborating, through agreements with those Spanish and international institutions and organizations that share the same objectives to be able to further ensure the fulfillment of those goals. It also promotes training, research and the publication of educational materials related to the Spanish language and cultures, such as the creation of the don Quijote Foundation Prizes "The Teaching of Spanish as a Foreign Language Without Borders and Education in Spanish".
